About the Registry
TMC Registry
Purpose
TMC Registry is a database that collects information on individuals with endocrine diseases at The Medical City. It promotes research by providing epidemiological data and research opportunities. It is for data collection only; it is not a screening or diagnostic tool.
Endocrine diseases are often complex and require long-term monitoring. This initiative, developed specifically for the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at The Medical City, addresses the need for a structured, longitudinal dataset that enables clinicians and researchers to study prevalence, treatment outcomes, and disease progression within our patient population.
The Registry serves as a vital resource for improving clinical care pathways and fostering internal research excellence at The Medical City.
Methodology
Data is collected prospectively by treating physicians at The Medical City through a secure, web-based platform. Each patient enrollment requires informed consent in accordance with Republic Act No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and the Health Privacy Code (JAO 2016-0002).
Each disease registry uses its own standard form. Data can be typed on the website, or uploaded as a Word file, a PDF, or a photo of the paper form. Every record keeps the ID of the account that encoded it.
- 01General Endocrinology — Every endocrine patient seen at TMC; also the fellows' census
- 02Diabetes — Type 1, type 2 and other forms of diabetes mellitus
- 03Thyroid — Thyroid nodules, goiter, thyroid dysfunction and thyroid cancer
- 04Obesity — Obesity and weight-related metabolic disease (coming soon)
- 05Gender Health — Gender-affirming hormone therapy (coming soon)
- 06Pituitary — Pituitary adenomas, hypopituitarism and other pituitary diseases
- 07Parathyroid — Hyperparathyroidism and other parathyroid diseases (coming soon)
- 08Adrenal — Adrenal incidentaloma, primary aldosteronism and other adrenal diseases (coming soon)
- 09Bone — Osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases (coming soon)
Diagnosis coding follows ICD-10 standards.
Project Scope
The registry is exclusively operated within The Medical City, a tertiary hospital in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. It supports the multidisciplinary endocrine team spanning endocrinology, surgery, ophthalmology, pathology, and metabolic health specialists.
Statistics and aggregated data generated by the registry represent the clinical experience and patient outcomes specifically of The Medical City.
Project Origin & Affiliation
This registry is a specialized technical initiative developed specifically for the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at The Medical City. It serves the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism as a dedicated tool for institutional data management and clinical research.
While it follows international standards and allows for collaboration with local societies like the Philippine College of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (pCEDM), the platform is designed primarily as an internal institutional resource to support the specific needs of The Medical City.
